About the Job

This is a critical position within an organisation where you will be responsible for elevating the quality of content by setting and maintaining higher editorial standards.

Key Objectives
  • Elevate the quality of content by setting and maintaining higher editorial standards.
  • Mentor a team of editors and build a robust process-driven team for editing and vetting content.
Main Responsibilities
  1. Edit, proofread, and review English content while maintaining meaning and context.
  2. Review and edit written content, checking for grammar accuracy, ensuring proper sentence structure for clarity and consistency, correcting factual information, and improving overall readability.
  3. Work closely with content creators, writers, to ensure that the formatting of documents, presentations, and spreadsheets meet established style guidelines and standards.
  4. Refine content while maintaining a consistent tone of voice, style, and language to maintain uniformity and alignment with the content writers' style.
  5. Rewrite the content if required in tangent with the content writer to ensure the content communicates its message to the reader.
  6. Collaborate and communicate with multiple teams to keep them abreast, involved, and informed on changes and development in any content during its development phase.
  7. Mentor and build a robust team of editors who will edit, review, and proofread documents effectively without losing their essence.
  8. Proofread text and edit text at various stages of the writing process and in response to feedback from writers or creative directors.
  9. Keep abreast of trends in content and style reflected on popular social media channels.
  10. Ability to give constructive feedback.
  11. Ability to remain detail-oriented and focused when processing large amounts of text.
  12. Willingness to collaborate with a creative team of content writers, graphic designers, and others.

Specialised Job Competencies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Mastery of spelling, grammar, and punctuation, and ability to make constructive suggestions.
  • Adherence to organisational style guide.
  • Proficient with research skills.
  • BASIC knowledge of legal issues involved in publishing, such as libel and plagiarism.
  • UK English spelling and punctuation conventions.
Educational Qualification
  • Post-Graduation in English Journalism Mass Media.
