Cost Engineer Position

The company is seeking a highly skilled Costing Specialist to fill this key role. The ideal candidate will possess 8-14 years of experience in cost management and strategic sourcing.

This position requires a strong understanding of Zero base costing (ZBC) and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) methodology, as well as experience with process improvement and negotiation.

  • Ensure timely project cost settlement for sheet metal/machined/rubber/plastic parts.
  • Protect margins on part costs according to internal customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Settle costs with suppliers using ZBC and TCO methodology.
  • Monitor commodity expenses and analyze monthly data.
  • Audit raw material prices for amendments, including regular reviews.
  • Visit suppliers to assess their capability on cost drivers and areas for improvement.
  • Optimize input raw materials and post-operation expenses.
  • Settle Machine Hour Rate (MHR) with suppliers for press/CNC/VMC/coating processes at competitive pricing.
  • Generate cost-saving ideas through spend analysis.
  • Negotiate supplier claims and settlements with proper analysis.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Process understanding (draw forming processes, machining processes, surface finishing processes).
  • Understanding of raw material grades.
  • Quality systems knowledge - IATF 2016 System knowledge - Core tools - APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA.
  • Process understanding - Rubber/Injection Molding/Blow molding.
  • Understanding of process details and machine MHR rates.
  • Understanding of raw material rates.
  • Knowledge of AUTOCAD/3D Software and experience with location-wise labor rates, landed electricity charges, and break-up details.
  • Knowledge of skill set enhancement methodology to improve productivity and efficiency for commercial aspects.
  • Knowledge of line balancing, KANBAN, JIT, and TQM techniques and their usage in commercial aspects.
  • Knowledge of existing tax structures and legal compliance.
  • Skills: Analytical skills - Costing, Presentation, Communication, Negotiation.
