Cloud Database Administrator

The role of a Cloud Database Administrator involves managing, monitoring, and optimizing databases hosted on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

  • Responsibilities include provisioning, configuring, and maintaining cloud-hosted databases (e.g., Amazon RDS, Azure SQL Database, Cloud SQL).
  • Monitoring database performance and availability using cloud-native tools is also crucial.
  • Ensuring data security, backup, and recovery processes are implemented and adhered to.
  • Supporting migration of databases to the cloud from on-premises systems.
  • Creating users, roles, and permission policies for database access.
  • Troubleshooting basic database issues with guidance from senior DBAs.
  • Documenting procedures, configurations, and operational best practices.
Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field is necessary.
  • Familiarity with at least one cloud platform (AWS / Azure / GCP) and their database offerings is required.
  • Knowledge of database backup, restore, and disaster recovery fundamentals is essential.
  • Awareness of database security best practices is important.
  • Good problem-solving skills and an eagerness to learn are also desired qualities.
