Deputy Manager Pharmacy Job Description

A key role in our organization, the Deputy Manager Pharmacy oversees pharmacy operations to ensure compliance with regulations and delivers efficient services. Key responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day pharmacy activities, managing staff, and ensuring safe medication use.

Job Responsibilities
  • Pharmacy Operations Management: The ideal candidate will oversee prescription dispensing, inventory management, compounding, and medication therapy management services to ensure timely delivery of quality pharmacy services.
  • Staff Supervision and Training: This individual will supervise pharmacists, technicians, and support personnel by scheduling tasks, providing training, conducting performance evaluations, and maintaining a positive work environment that fosters growth and development.
  • Medication Safety and Quality Assurance: To minimize risks, this role will implement policies and procedures for safe medication practices, monitor for recalls or shortages, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Regulatory Compliance: The successful candidate will ensure all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, accreditation standards, and professional guidelines are met through accurate record-keeping, controlled substance regulation adherence, and participation in regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Pharmaceutical Procurement and Inventory Control: This person will manage procurement processes, maintain stock levels, monitor expiration dates, optimize inventory turnover, and maintain relationships with pharmaceutical suppliers and wholesalers.
  • Patient Counseling and Education: By explaining medication instructions, potential side effects, drug interactions, and proper administration techniques, the ideal candidate ensures patients and healthcare providers have the knowledge needed for safe medication use.
