The role of a data protection specialist involves safeguarding an organization's digital assets from potential loss, theft, or damage. This includes the administration and management of backup systems to ensure business continuity in case of disaster or equipment failure.
- Technical Skills:
A successful data protection specialist will have hands-on experience with Veeam Backup and Replication v9.5/10/11/12, as well as a deep understanding of VMware and Hyper-V environments. The ability to monitor day-to-day schedule job activities and participate in maintaining 100% compliance of backup jobs is also essential.
Additionally, this position requires the ability to identify and troubleshoot missed and failed Veeam backup jobs, set up and configure Veeam Agent for Windows, and administer backup daily to ensure backups are successful and consistent.
Experience with Veeam One and Veeam Enterprise Manager Job reports and Monitoring tool, as well as knowledge of cloud storage like AWS S3 Buckets, Azure Blob Storage, is necessary. Familiarity with tape libraries, Microsoft Windows, Linux (RHEL, CentOS), and hardware issues is also required.
This role also involves effective communication skills, providing operational support on a 24x7 rotation basis, and being able to write technical RCAs and change control documents.
