Lead Data Modeler

We are seeking a seasoned Lead Data Modeler to join our team. As a key member of our data analytics group, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality data models that support business decisions.

  • Job Description:
  • This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to gather business requirements, analyze data, and design logical and physical data models. You will also be responsible for creating metadata artifacts, documenting data entities, attributes, and relationships, and performing data quality checks.
  • You should have strong data analysis and modeling skills, including experience with data warehousing, ETL processes, and database design. Proficiency in SQL, data visualization tools, and agile methodologies is required.

  2. In this role, you will work on various projects, including data migration, data integration, and data governance initiatives. You will collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and develop data solutions that meet their requirements.
  3. You will be responsible for mentoring junior data modelers and providing guidance on data modeling best practices.
  • Required Skills:
  • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts, including entity-relationship diagrams, data normalization, and data denormalization.
  • Experience with data warehousing and ETL tools, such as Informatica PowerCenter or Oracle Warehouse Builder.
  • Proficiency in SQL, including querying, indexing, and optimizing database performance.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain high-quality data models that support business decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather business requirements and design data solutions.
  • Create metadata artifacts, document data entities, attributes, and relationships, and perform data quality checks.
  • Mentor junior data modelers and provide guidance on data modeling best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and recommend new approaches and tools to improve data modeling processes.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with data governance frameworks and data quality metrics.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms, such as Amazon Redshift or Google BigQuery.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Basic knowledge of data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI.
