The Role of a Geologist Interpreter

Objective:

As a Geologist Interpreter, you will be responsible for carrying out integrated interpretation of available geological data and constructing a robust geological model. Your key objectives include generating multiple development scenarios and providing technical input to Business Units.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Review and quality control of various geological parameter maps and correlations between stratigraphic/coal seam formations.
  • Build a static geo-cellular model incorporating field data and estimate volumetric reserves in multiple cases, capturing the range of uncertainties.
  • Evaluate Oil-in-Place (OGIIP) estimations through map-based and model-based quality control procedures.
  • Generate alternative development scenarios with regards to well type, spacing, and other factors.
  • Review and provide feedback on geological prognosis and well trajectories for development drilling operations.
  • Support Operations Geology teams during geo-steering/drilling operations, making operational decisions as required.
  • Provide technical inputs for business development plans.
  • Responsible for planning and acquiring geological data to bridge data gaps and reduce uncertainty through enhanced field understanding.
  • Support pre- and post-drill geo-mechanical analysis and dynamic simulation activities.
  • Quality control onsite and lab measurements on cores for coal characterization purposes.
  • Evaluate coal bed methane data packages from regulatory bodies/prospective sellers for block acquisition/farming-in.
  • Review and quality control subsurface deliverables from third-party/SME studies.
  • Generate integrated subsurface descriptions and risk/uncertainty matrices.
  • Ensure cross-functional communications with Projects, Finance & Administration, Planning & Control, Development & Construction teams regarding all planning and execution related to Operations and Development.
  • Review Scope of Works and Technical Evaluation/recommendation for procuring materials/services of Subsurface units.

Requirements:

• Master's degree in Geology or higher academic qualification.

• Minimum 8-12 years of relevant industry experience working on Interpretation, Geo-modelling, Well Planning, and Operations.
