Senior Engineering Specialist

This role is a senior position in an engineering team, focused on production and liaison with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare feasibility study reports to meet brief requirements and review with relevant stakeholders.
  • Assemble a design specification that meets employer's requirements and monitor its preparation ensuring timely delivery.
  • Agree and monitor scope of works with stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding of project objectives.
  • Define building requirements and purpose of use to allow detailed design, taking into account client needs.
  • Carry out detailed design as per client requirements, including complex calculations and coordination issues.
  • Review and monitor the production of calculations, including QA and technical reviews to ensure accuracy.
  • Ensure project costing information is completed in requisite detail and to deadlines, supporting informed decision-making.
  • Coordinate project contracts documents and reviews input from team members to maintain consistency.
  • Lead the design process, promoting cost-effective solutions and encouraging collaboration among team members.
  • Follow document control and QA processes relevant to project work to ensure high-quality outcomes.
Key Competencies / Skills:
  • Proven experience in designing Building Structures, with similar role or good track record.
  • Effective presentation skills are required to communicate ideas effectively.
  • Fully conversant with technical structural software, such as RAM, CSC, ETABS, SAFE and STAAD, with ability to apply knowledge in practice.
  • A sound understanding of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Project, is essential for success in this role.
  • Fluent in English with excellent understanding of technical terminology and concepts.
  • Strong management, communication and technical skills, capable of working within a team and independently, to deliver results.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, membership to an accredited engineering body is required.
  • British Chartered Engineer status or equivalent is desirable.
  • Minimum 12 years' experience in a related field, with a strong track record of achievement.
