Job Description:

As a Senior Manufacturing Process Optimization Engineer, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the manufacturability and cost-effectiveness of parts/castings production and development within our machine shop at PTC. This role demands a collaborative approach with design and production teams to develop and optimize tooling, fixtures, and jigs for milling and CNC machining operations.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with design and production teams to develop for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and develop tooling, fixtures, jigs for CNC machining operations.
  • Prepare the process sheet for manufacturing, evaluate tooling options, recommend optimal machining solutions to reduce costs, and support the development of quality control processes to meet product standards.
  • Create and maintain essential documentation, such as CNC programs, work instructions, and SOPs, to standardize production processes.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for critical NCRs to identify and address underlying issues.
  • Conduct analyses to optimize workflow, throughput, and work cell layout, and provide technical support to resolve manufacturing issues and improve process efficiency.
  • Evaluate the overall OEE and labor efficiency, work with the production team to develop a new part as per cycle time, and contribute to the budgeting process for machine shop operations.
  • Work with maintenance personnel to diagnose and rectify recurring and production-related equipment failures, supporting in root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to reduce downtime.
  • Perform cost analysis for machining processes to identify cost-saving opportunities and train machine operators in new processes and techniques.
  • Mentor junior engineers to promote skill development and knowledge sharing within the team, conduct Gemba walks to identify and implement Kaizen opportunities, and drive continuous improvement, Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S in shop floor operations.

About You:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Process Optimization Engineer with a Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree in mechanical engineering will be preferable. Your experience should include 1-2 years in process engineering within an industrial casting manufacturing environment, with a focus on machine shop operations.

You Should Have:

  • Understanding of machining processes, CNC programming, and tooling optimization.
  • Proficient in the use of process improvement tools and methodologies, such as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey technical information.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in using CAD/CAM software for process optimization and design.

Salary Range:$90,000 - $110,000 per annum
