Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage day-to-day project management, responsible for leading and delivering various UK schemes.
  • Develop and apply advanced engineering concepts and approaches to unique engineering problems.
  • Seek innovation in the delivery of schemes and techniques used to design them.
  • Ensure projects are delivered to budget, program, and technical standards and meet QA, CDM, Sustainability, and HSE requirements.
  • Involved in internal client liaison, financial control of projects, recruitments, business development activities, and production of fee proposals.
  • Manage processes to ensure technical issues and risks are resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Contribute to our Lean approach to driving efficiency and removing waste from our processes.
  • Guide, supervise, and direct all team members in technical and project management matters to ensure the effective delivery of projects while aiding the technical/professional development of the team.
  • Provide direct line management, including mentoring and managing early career professionals, ensuring technical excellence in everything we deliver.
  • Assist the discipline head in producing periodic reports, such as project performance, forecast utilization, and workload.
  • Help maintain the culture and positive working environment in the team.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of and experience of at least 5 years in UK highway design, including road geometry, road restraint systems, site clearance, pavement, signages, and road markings.
  • Direct and check the use of relevant design software, such as Civil 3D, Open Roads, MX, PDS/Key Line, and Sign, AutoCAD, and ProjectWise.
  • Demonstrate experience of successfully leading a team and managing stakeholders.
  • Lead teams and help with the operational management of a team of up to 10 staff.
  • Demonstrate experience of resource and project management.
  • Produce technical specifications and reports.
  • Aware of current and emerging technologies relevant to the highways sector.
  • Experience of liaison with clients, co-professionals, and design teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective time management and strong organizational skills.
Desired Skills:
  • Financial management.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status of a recognized professional institution.
  • Experience on design and build projects.
  • Use of Lean in Highways.
  • Demonstrate clear and successful liaison and coordination on multi-discipline projects and working knowledge of other disciplines' technical capabilities and requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or post-graduate degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent with over 10 years of experience in highway design.
  • Near Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with a recognized institution.
