Job Overview:

The role of a Radiology Coding Specialist involves meticulous review and analysis of radiology reports to accurately assign diagnosis and procedure codes.

This position requires a strong understanding of coding compliance, including ACR, CMS, and payer guidelines. The ideal candidate will be skilled in coding various radiology modalities, including X-ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, and Radiation oncology.

A key aspect of this role is collaboration with radiologists, billing staff, and auditors to resolve coding discrepancies. Additionally, the specialist must stay up-to-date with coding guidelines, NCCI edits, and regulatory changes to ensure accuracy and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately assign diagnosis and procedure codes for radiology reports

  • Maintain coding compliance with ACR, CMS, and payer guidelines

  • Coding experience in multiple radiology modalities, including X-ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, and Radiation oncology

  • Collaboration with radiologists, billing staff, and auditors to resolve coding discrepancies

  • Staying current with coding guidelines, NCCI edits, and regulatory changes

  • Meeting productivity and accuracy benchmarks as established by the department

  • Assistance in internal and external audits as needed

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC)

  • Minimum 1-2 years of hands-on experience in radiology coding (IR preferred)

  • MIPS Coding is Mandatory

  • In-depth knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II codes
