Database Migration Expert

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Migration Expert to lead our database migration efforts across various platforms. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Oracle Exadata and Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer (ExaCC) environments, as well as strong leadership and project management skills.

About the Role
  • This is a challenging role that requires strategic planning, technical expertise, and excellent communication skills.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for leading end-to-end migrations across assessment, planning, execution, validation, and post-migration optimization.
  • The role involves defining and driving migration strategy, methodologies, and best practices to ensure seamless delivery across all phases of the program.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the migration lifecycle, including assessment, planning, execution, validation, and post-migration optimization.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive migration strategy, taking into account business requirements and technical constraints.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including cloud architects, infrastructure teams, and application owners, to ensure smooth migration with minimal business disruption.
  • Design and implement data purging and archival strategies to optimize database size and performance pre- and post-migration.
  • Use Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for database performance monitoring, health checks, and proactive alerting.
Requirements
  • 12+ years of Oracle Database experience, with 5+ years in leadership/managerial roles overseeing database migration programs.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale Oracle migrations in multi-cloud, Exadata, and ExaCC environments.
  • Strong experience with Oracle Exadata administration, migration, and performance tuning, as well as Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer (ExaCC) implementation and management.
  • Familiarity with Rubrik for backup, restore, and DR integration, RMAN for backup/recovery, delta sync, cloning, and duplication, and OEM for monitoring and migration validation.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native database solutions in AWS (RDS, EC2, S3) and Azure (Azure SQL, Blob Storage, Recovery Vaults).
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Knowledge of GoldenGate for real-time replication.
  • Familiarity with Terraform/Ansible for IaC-based DB provisioning.
  • Experience in hybrid migration scenarios (on-prem to Exadata, Exadata to ExaCC, ExaCC to cloud).
  • Exposure to DevOps pipelines for automated DB deployment.
