Clearing and Settlement Specialist

The primary function of this role is to ensure seamless execution of the clearing and settlement process. This involves managing end-to-end operations to guarantee timely market settlement of securities and cash transfers between our institution and its counterparties.
This position demands exceptional organizational skills, strong analytical abilities, and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. Key responsibilities include:
- Streamlining interaction between various teams involved in the clearing and settlement process chain
- Collaborating with colleagues to optimize asset allocation strategies for strategic portfolio management
- Ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Clearing and settling transactions through both primary and secondary markets, as well as direct payments
Key Requirements:
- Functional skills:
- Developing and implementing efficient operational processes to enhance overall performance
- Monitoring daily exposure management for equity trades involving clients and counterparties, including booking cash collateral and processing crest loans
- Tracking same-day equity trades to ensure settlement, releasing instructions into the market, and amending trades as requested by the desk
- Reconciling aged equity trades to ensure timely settlement, amending trades as necessary, and performing reconciliation tasks
- Managing international trades settlement for New York Entity, settling cash on new loans for collateral team coverage
- Monitoring collateral bookings made by Fixed Income and Equity collateral teams through to settlement, focusing on bond settlements only
- Agreeing and settling deals booked by the Fixed Income trading desk, managing funding generated by these deals, and reconciling reference linking between broker systems
- Daily exposure management for equity trades, booking collateral, and re-allocating between ASL clients
- Collateral management versus all Triparty Non Cash deals, including monitoring settlement of collateral where new deals are booked pending release
- Collateral management versus all Bi-Lat deals (Cash and NC) on a T+1 basis, agreeing re-prices with counterparty, and ensuring ASL clients are fully covered
- Working on ASL projects & Initiatives, producing Operational MI for client and counterparty based processes, training staff for cross-training and upskilling, and integrating new regulatory requirements into the team
- Reconciling cash screen balances to reflect correct trading balance and current running balance at Euroclear Bank
- Daily checking of tri-party and corporate action Euroclear accounts to ensure tri-party accounts are funded correctly and monitor large balances on the corporate action account
- Checking over 500k balances across all ASL accounts to ensure there are no unknown balances
- Daily CBL funding
- Calculating need for borrow at Euroclear based on daily cash balances on ASL accounts, executing and booking borrow, and performing EOD funding
- Monitoring the team performing EOD funding and making payments
- Providing adequate information during system issues to IT and Global Owner for resolution
- Participating in issue-related calls and taking decisions or checking out in system when IT makes changes
