About This Role

Renate Capital Fund I is a venture capital fund that invests in revenue-positive Indian startups solving core Indian problems. Our strategy involves investing larger cheques and taking controlling or major stakes in startups raising seed rounds, targeting disciplined 18-24 month exits with 3x returns.

The fund is sector-agnostic, backed by the Renate ecosystem across various sectors. As a key member of our core team, you will work directly under the Managing Director and be responsible for several critical functions:

  • Deal Sourcing: Identify potential investors and leverage networks, events, inbound leads, accelerators, and referrals to source deals.
  • Evaluation of Investments: Analyze business models, financials, traction, and scalability of potential investments to ensure they align with our investment thesis.
  • Due Diligence: Support legal, financial, and compliance checks on shortlisted startups to ensure they meet our investment criteria.
  • Portfolio Support: Work closely with portfolio companies on fundraising, growth strategy, and performance tracking to drive value creation.
  • Market Research: Conduct deep dives into various sectors, prepare market maps, and identify emerging opportunities to stay ahead of the curve.
  • Fund Operations: Assist with investment memos, reporting to Limited Partners (LPs), and internal fund documentation to ensure seamless operations.
  • Ecosystem Building: Represent Renate Capital at startup events, demo days, and founder meetings to build relationships and foster partnerships.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • A completed or ongoing Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field.
  • 6-12 months of experience in VC, PE, consulting, investment banking, or startup strategy.
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills to evaluate investment opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities to effectively engage with stakeholders.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable working in a fast-paced, lean team environment.
