Senior Azure DevOps Engineer Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • To design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and resilient Azure DevOps solutions to support cloud-native application development.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Azure Pipelines, Jenkins, or GitLab CI to streamline software delivery.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices with Terraform, ARM Templates, and other IaC tools.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including development, QA, and operations to optimize delivery processes and improve overall system reliability.
  • Monitor application and infrastructure performance, proactively identify bottlenecks and performance issues to prevent downtime and data loss.
  • Implement security best practices, compliance, and governance across environments to safeguard company assets and adhere to regulatory requirements.
  • Champion DevOps methodologies and lead transformations to improve team collaboration, automation, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to engineers and stakeholders to enhance their knowledge and skills.
  • Investigate complex system-level issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement fixes to resolve problems promptly.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for infrastructure architecture and deployment procedures to ensure transparency and knowledge sharing.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend the adoption of innovative solutions that align with business goals and objectives.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence within the organization by promoting knowledge sharing and upskilling initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into actionable technical solutions that meet business needs.
  • Participate in project planning, estimation, and delivery processes in Agile environments to drive successful project outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in DevOps engineering or similar technical roles.
  • In-depth hands-on experience with Azure DevOps tools and services.
  • Proficiency in building CI/CD pipelines using tools like Azure Pipelines, Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, ARM Templates, Bicep, etc.
  • Practical experience with containerization using Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of cloud architecture, especially Microsoft Azure.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.
  • Deep understanding of Agile and DevOps principles, values, and best practices.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Grafana, etc.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, distributed environment and contribute to collaborative team efforts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert).
  • Background in software development, code lifecycle management, and version control using Git.
  • Experience working with YAML pipelines, multi-environment deployment strategies, and release management.
  • Familiarity with industry-recognized security compliance standards (ISO, SOC 2, HIPAA) and how they apply in DevOps environments.
