Job Title: Process Design Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Process Design Engineer to support our team in designing and optimizing flow chemistry and batch processes for scale-up and commercial manufacturing. As a key member of our global pharma project team, you will have the opportunity to grow and develop your skills in a dynamic and innovative environment.

  • Develop and optimize flow chemistry and batch processes for scale-up and commercial manufacturing.
  • Perform process design calculations (heat & mass balance, reaction kinetics, equipment sizing, pressure drop, mixing, and scale-up parameters).
  • Prepare and review engineering deliverables such as Block Flow Diagrams (BFDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Support process safety assessments (HAZOP, risk analysis, safety studies).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (process chemists, mechanical, instrumentation, and analytical teams) to ensure robust process design.
  • Evaluate new technologies and propose innovative solutions for continuous manufacturing & flow chemistry applications.
  • Provide process engineering support during pilot plant and commercial scale-up.
  • Work with procurement & vendors for equipment selection and specification preparation.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, regulatory guidelines, and EHS standards in process design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fundamental understanding of process design principles and methodologies.
  • Experience in preparing and interpreting BFDs, PFDs, P&IDs.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of process safety (HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA) is desirable.
  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 5–7 years of proven experience in process design engineering within the pharmaceutical/chemical industry.
