Teach and Mentor in Carnatic Music

We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our academic team as a Professor of Carnatic Music. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching and research, with expertise in Carnatic music theory and performance.

About the Position

This is a tenure-track position that requires the incumbent to teach undergraduate and postgraduate students, develop curriculum, guide research projects, and participate in departmental and institutional activities.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver courses in Carnatic music theory and performance
  • Contribute to the development of curriculum and assessment strategies
  • Supervise research projects and mentor students
  • Participate in concerts, workshops, and seminars to promote the department's activities
  • Mentor students for competitions and festivals
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Carnatic Music or a related field
  • Publishable research or performance reviews in recognized journals
  • Experience in teaching at the college/university level, preferably with a strong record of student outcomes
  • Knowledge of music notation software and modern teaching methodologies
