Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Geotechnical Expert to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and supervising geotechnical activities in a large-scale open pit mine operation.

About the Role

The incumbent will be accountable for conducting geotechnical studies, preparing pre-feasibility and feasibility reports, and undertaking stability analysis and simulation modelling. They will also be responsible for implementing schemes derived from simulation models to enhance mine operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive geotechnical studies to inform mine planning and design
  • Prepare detailed pre-feasibility and feasibility reports to support investment decisions
  • Develop and implement stability analysis and simulation modelling to optimize mine operations
  • Implement schemes derived from simulation models to enhance mine performance

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A postgraduate degree in Geological Science/Geology/Applied Geology/Engineering Geology/Geotechnical Engineer or a related field
  • Extensive experience in geotechnical engineering, preferably in an open pit mine environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop innovative solutions
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels
