Design Lead Job Description

Job Overview:

The role of a design lead is to oversee the development of innovative and sustainable products that cater to the needs of large enterprises. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mechanical or aeronautical engineering, with a strong technical background in different Airbus/Aero OEM programs.

  • Must have at least 20+ years of experience in mechanical or Aeronautical engineering.
  • Overall technical knowledge on different Airbus / Aero OEM programs is required.
  • Knowledge on both metallic and composites design is necessary.
  • Sound knowledge on Fuselage, Wing, Empennage, Control Surfaces, etc., on structures is required.
  • Should be knowledgeable on Airbus Methods and applicable procedures for respective applications.
  • Aerospace Stress activities knowledge is essential.
  • Knowledge on various ATA chapters is required.
  • Technical measures at each stage with Metrics knowledge is necessary.
  • Experienced on Aerospace related Tools (softwares/PDMs etc.,) is preferred.
  • Product Design, Plant Engineering, Repair Activities, Tool Design, Mfg. Engineering, Manufacturing, MROs, Aerospace Systems ES, MSI, etc., knowledge is beneficial.
  • Capable of detailed technical write-ups and Efforts estimations for technical proposals is an asset.

Key Responsibilities:

As a design lead, you will be responsible for ensuring signatory delegation process (SDP) as per A1020/M1020 requirements. This includes reviewing WPL recommendation/requests on DOA scope, reviewing independently the nominee's qualification before proposing them to HOE, and ensuring deliverables of the signatories meet design requirements.

  • Accountable to review monthly data of all nominees & signatories as per audit/compliances requirements through logbooks, to take appropriate actions on Non-Quality, Non-conformance and KPI deviations as per A1020/M1020 requirements.
  • Responsible to support HOE at every stage in ensuring the design organization requirements during technical audits, Technical proposals preparation, Developing technical skills on new areas etc., etc.
