Software Principal Engineer Job Overview

As a leading technology company, we are seeking an experienced Software Principal Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will have expertise in designing and developing sophisticated systems and software based on customer business goals, needs, and general business environment.

The ideal candidate will work closely with product management, engineering teams, customer success, and support to develop cutting-edge new product features and enhancements across various areas of our offerings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Incident Response: Participate actively in detecting, remediating, and reporting on production incidents, ensuring SLAs/SLOs are defined and met.
  • On-Call Rotation: Participate in on-call rotation to ensure coverage for planned/unplanned events.
  • Process Improvement: Engage with other engineering organizations to implement processes, identify improvements, and drive consistent results.
  • DR Exercises: Work with SRE and Engineering counterparts for driving DR exercises, game days, training, and other response readiness efforts.
  • Tooling and Automation: Collaborate with Service Engineering organizations to build and automate tooling, implement best practices on observability, and manage Boomi services in production, consistently achieving market-leading SLA.
  • System Reliability: Improve the scalability and reliability of Boomi's systems in production.
  • Infrastructure Provisioning: Automate the provisioning and maintenance of Boomi's infrastructure.
  • Mentorship: Work independently with minimal guidance from technical leadership and mentor other Boomi engineers, including design collaboration and code reviews.
Requirements:Essential Requirements:
  • Reliability Metrics: Expertise in defining, measuring, and improving reliability metrics (SLO/SLI/Error budgets).
  • Observability Practices: Strong skills in implementing observability practices (monitoring, logging, distributed tracing) preferably using Splunk and New Relic.
  • SRD Automation: Passionate about SRD automation and infrastructure platforms, with expertise in developing Ansible playbooks and automation for infrastructure as code using Terraform and Cloud Formation Templates and Python.
  • DR Exercise: Experience in conducting and automating DR exercises in AWS cloud, validating RPOs and RTOs.
  • AWS Components: Strong understanding and working experience with AWS components.
