About the Role

We are seeking an Accounting Expert to join our team at Northern Tool + Equipment. This is a unique opportunity to play a game-changing role and make a lasting impact in a fast-growing organization.

The Accounting Expert will be responsible for maintaining records of routine accounting transactions, preparing accurate and timely financial and operating reports, and assisting in the analysis and interpretation of accounting records for use by management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain month-end close activities within established timelines, including general journal entries, account activity review, and balance review for accuracy of financial data and validity of journal entries prior to posting.
  • Perform account reconciliations utilizing various reconciliation tools, including TrinTech Cadency, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics D365, SK Bank, and Excel, and reconcile large amounts of transactional-related data and assigned accounting areas.
  • Assist in the preparation of daily and monthly journal entries, review account activity prior to the close of month-end to ensure accuracy of financial data and reasonableness of balance sheet accounts, and identify and promote changes in procedures and reporting that increase efficiency and reduce data keying and manual intervention.
  • Communicate financial escalations in a timely manner to the Accounting Leads or Managers and escalate cash funding delays or errors in a timely manner.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives, identify areas for automation, and implement process improvements using PowerBI, Excel functionality, and other available tools.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • At least 1-2 years of related experience, including experience with computerized Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Familiarity with fundamental financial and accounting disciplines, including general accounting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), substantive account reconciliations, financial statements, and financial software.
  • Broad exposure to other financial software, including Access, BI Reporting Tools, Point of Sale systems, Reconciliation Tools, ERP, and warehouse management systems.
  • Previous accounting experience in multi-location retail or manufacturing settings, with Retail and Commerce preferred.
