The position of a Conventional Underwriter plays a critical role in the mortgage loan process.

Key responsibilities include reviewing, conditioning, and underwriting mortgage loans in accordance with established policies and procedures, as well as guidelines. All documentation is examined for accuracy and completeness.

Requirements:

- 4 years or more experience

- Degree or equivalent education

Preferred qualifications:

- US Mortgage Process (Only Night Shifts)

- Work From Home/Remote

Job Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Review and analyze mortgage loan applications to ensure eligibility, accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal and regulatory guidelines.

2. Examine all required loan data, reports, and inspections to ensure collateral is acceptable to investors and the company.

3. Knowledge of lending and underwriting guidelines, credit and income analysis, cash flow analysis, risk assessment, loan-to-value ratios, and debt-to-income ratios.

4. Review initial applications and verify loan, property, borrower information with other available documents.

5. Calculate assets required for closing and reserve purposes for transactions according to guidelines.

6. Make independent decisions regarding acceptance and risk of loans according to HUD, company, and investor guidelines.

7. Provide final approval for underwriting mortgage loans.

8. Complete all required paperwork and forms in a timely and accurate manner.

9. Sign off conditions in a timely manner set by management.

10. Work with staff and management to find solutions on escalated loans.

11. May be requested to make recommendations for improving internal audit policies and practices.

12. Manage loans using all functions of Encompass.

13. Effectively communicate underwriting decisions with processors and advisors.

14. Maintain a high level of customer service and communication with other departments.

15. Other duties as assigned.
