PostgreSQL Database Administrator

  • We are seeking a skilled Postgres DBA to join our team.
About the Role

This role requires designing, implementing, and maintaining high-performing Postgres databases.

  • The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in administering Postgres databases with 6+ years of experience.
  • Writing complex SQL queries for performance and scalability is also required.
  • Database storage structures management and optimal disk usage and performance monitoring are key responsibilities.
  • Resolving database performance issues using tools and logs is essential.
  • Tuning, configuration adjustments, and query optimization are crucial tasks.
  • Scheduling jobs using cron or other job scheduling tools at DB and OS levels is necessary.
  • Installing and upgrading Postgres database software to new versions as required is part of the role.
  • High availability and disaster recovery setups management including replication and DataGuard administration (or equivalent techniques) is a must.
  • Regular database backups and restorations to ensure data integrity and availability are required.
  • Applying security patches and updates on time is necessary.
  • Collaborating with developers for schema design, stored procedures, and access privileges is essential.
  • Documenting configurations, processes, and performance tuning results is a requirement.
Requirements

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Strong hands-on experience in Postgres administration (6+ years).
  • Excellent understanding of SQL and query optimization techniques.
  • Deep knowledge of database services, architecture, and internals.
  • Experience in performance tuning at both DB and OS levels.
  • Familiarity with DataGuard or similar high-availability solutions.
  • Strong experience in job scheduling and automation.
  • Comfortable with installing, configuring, and upgrading Postgres.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of Linux system administration.
  • Hands-on experience with shell scripting for automation and monitoring tasks.
