Medical Coding Team Lead Position

The ideal candidate will have over 17 years of experience in medical coding, with a proven track record of managing large teams of coders. They should be certified from AAPC or AHIMA, with strong leadership capabilities, client handling experience, and a deep understanding of the healthcare and medical coding industry.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned medical coder to take on a leadership position and drive our coding team's success. As a Medical Coding Team Lead, you will oversee the daily operations of the coding unit, ensuring high-quality work and efficient processes.

Main Responsibilities
  • Oversight of daily operations including workload and staffing; hiring, disciplining, and performance appraisals; training; and monitoring quality of work.
  • Development of long-range and short-term goals, objectives, plans, and programs, and ensuring their implementation.
  • Assistance in planning, developing, and controlling budgets, including staffing costs, capital equipment, and operations of the coding unit.
  • Evaluation of the impact of innovations and changes in programs, policies, and procedures for the coding unit.
  • Design and implementation of systems and methods to improve data accessibility.
  • Oversight and monitoring of the coding compliance program.
  • Ensuring the dissemination and communication of regulatory, policy, and guideline changes.
  • Conducting and overseeing coding audit efforts and coordinating monitoring of coding accuracy and documentation adequacy.
  • Reporting non-compliance issues detected through auditing and monitoring, along with the nature of corrective action plans and results of follow-up audits.
Key Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Over 17 years of experience in medical coding.
  • Certification from AAPC or AHIMA.
  • Strong leadership capabilities.
  • Client handling experience.
  • A deep understanding of the healthcare and medical coding industry.
