As a Mechanical Engineer at Lam, you will play a critical role in designing and developing cutting-edge thermo-mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving the success of our products and contributing to the company's mission to deliver innovative solutions that enable the world's most advanced technologies.

What You'll Do

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop thermo-mechanical and electro-mechanical systems for our etch and temperature control units, ensuring high performance, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive project execution, including feasibility studies, testing, and detailed design and fabrication.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design reviews, approval processes, and implementation of design changes.
  • Contribute to the development of new product development (NPD) processes and engineering due diligence, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.

Other Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and coaching to engineers in the team, ensuring they meet job expectations and contribute to the team's success.
  • Drive change and innovation by contributing to productivity improvements and developing new ideas to influence system architecture.
  • Handle customer escalations, field problems, and troubleshooting, ensuring timely resolution and customer satisfaction.

Who We're Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Design/Thermal Engineering with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience in product development on thermo-mechanical systems of high complexity, including sub-zero temperature components, with execution knowledge of NPD processes and engineering due diligence.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct design reviews, seek approval, and implement design changes, as well as contribute to other's design.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in decision-making and problem-solving, with the ability to work with teams and contribute to product/process differentiation through innovation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Product engineering experience in SEMI and specific design contributions to etch chamber, temperature control units, CRYO-related assemblies, bias housing, RF, and plasma chemistry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present design concepts to peers and management in a professional and effective way.
  • Good understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, equipment, industry standards (SEMI, OSHA, ASME, etc.).

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role, including On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. On-site Flex involves working 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. Virtual Flex involves working 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
