Job Title: Sales and Use Tax Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our Sales & Use Tax Services practice. The ideal candidate will have 6-8 years of experience in sales and use tax compliance, with a strong background in managing high volume compliance portfolios and preparing sales and use tax returns.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing professional services relating to sales and use tax, including gathering and integrating SUT data, processing notices and requesting payments, analyzing and researching requests, generating SUT reports, preparing reconciliation and summary reports, maintaining data integrity, communicating with clients and state authorities, and monitoring administrative projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage high volume compliance portfolio
  • Prepare and review sales and use tax returns, notices, and reconciliations
  • Navigate the internet to file returns and perform research projects
  • Handle voluntary disclosure agreements
  • Work on exemption certificates
  • Learn various software applications to manage data
  • Stay informed on SUT procedures by participating in training sessions and educational opportunities
  • Utilize advanced data handling and automation tools like Alteryx to work with large data sets

Requirements:

  • 6-8 years of sales and use tax compliance experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with colleagues and clients
  • Working knowledge of personal computer and multiple software applications used in job functions, including intermediate MS Excel and MS Word
  • Ability to collaborate with team members
  • Demonstrate ability to obtain technical expertise in managed field
  • Ability to problem solve and make educated decisions
  • Exposure and hands-on experience on activities involved in sales and use tax cycle (client setup/returns/registrations/exemption certificates/vdAs)
  • Experience in working with Vertex Indirect Tax Returns software
  • Working experience in Alteryx to automate sales and use tax compliance is a must
  • Experience in working on clients in Telecom/Communications industry is a must
