API Architectural Specialist

About this role

We are seeking a highly skilled API Architectural Specialist to join our team. In this position, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining RESTful and GraphQL APIs that power complex platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and development of scalable APIs: You will design and build high-performance APIs that integrate with various systems and platforms.
  • Architectural expertise: Your deep understanding of microservices architecture and event-driven design will enable you to optimize our existing infrastructure.
  • Collaboration and integration: You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of services.
  • Security and documentation: You will ensure that APIs are secure, well-documented, and developer-friendly.
  • Performance optimization: You will identify and resolve system bottlenecks, data flow issues, and third-party integration problems.

Requirements:

  • Expertise in Node.js (ES6+) and back-end JavaScript/TypeScript: You should have solid experience in building and scaling APIs using these technologies.
  • Familiarity with databases (SQL and NoSQL) and ORMs: You should understand database concepts and have experience working with ORMs.
  • Understanding of authentication/authorization protocols (OAuth, JWT): You should have knowledge of these security protocols.
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture and event-driven design: You should have a deep understanding of these architectural principles.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field: You should have a strong educational background in computer science or a related field.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with API gateways (Kong, Apigee, AWS API Gateway): This is an added advantage if you have experience with these API gateways.
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD): Having knowledge of these DevOps tools will be beneficial in optimizing our infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with AI/automation integrations: This is an added advantage if you have experience with integrating AI and automation technologies.
  • Background in eCommerce or payment systems: This is an added advantage if you have experience in the eCommerce or payment systems domain.
