Process Safety Specialist

Job Description:

As a Process Safety Specialist, you will lead and facilitate Hazard Operability studies (HAZOP), Hazard Identification (HAZID) studies, and Safety Integrity Level/Layer of Protection Analysis (SIL/LOPA) to ensure compliance with Process Safety Management principles. Your responsibility includes preparing and reviewing safety documents such as Safety Philosophies, Fire Risk Assessments, DSRs, Hazardous Area Classification, Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA), Failure Effects and Recovery Analysis (FERA), and other safety studies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate HAZOP, HAZID, SIL/LOPA studies to ensure compliance with PSM principles.
  • Prepare and review safety documents to ensure they meet industry standards.
  • Review piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), layouts, and equipment specs from a safety design perspective to identify potential hazards.
  • Support design reviews, management of change, and alarm rationalization to minimize risks.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you should have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Process/Environmental/Safety Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in process safety and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE).
  • Strong knowledge of PSM, risk assessment, and HSE regulations.
  • Proficient in tools like PHAST, PHA-Pro, BowTieXP, DNV software.
  • Certifications: NEBOSH IGC/PSM, TÜV Functional Safety, or equivalent preferred.
