Job Overview:

As a Veterinary Officer, you will play a vital role in alleviating animal suffering, responding to emergency cases, and enhancing animal welfare through community outreach under the guidance of senior veterinarians.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support senior veterinary officers with routine services, including follow-ups and record-keeping
  2. Organize and conduct independent and team field visits, document treatments, and update databases
  3. Manage stock of medicines, instruments, biomedical waste disposal, and veterinary equipment
  4. Participate in clinical audits to ensure high-quality care
  5. Train animal welfare assistants on applied animal welfare, standards of animal management and care, first-aid, and minor treatment services
  6. Enhance skills of local external and junior veterinarians
  7. Improve the quality of major and minor treatment services available to animals
  8. Employ effective community engagement strategies to promote animal welfare
  9. Develop and maintain good relationships with partners and stakeholders
  10. Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in veterinary science and animal husbandry from a reputable institution
  • Master's degree in veterinary sciences preferred
  • Recent veterinary graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills
  • Registration under the relevant state veterinary council is required
  • Proficiency in information technology is essential
  • Good communication skills in Hindi, Marathi, and English are preferred
  • Compassion and commitment to animal welfare are essential
