Life Sciences Department Leader

We are seeking an accomplished and visionary leader to spearhead the Life Sciences department. This is a pivotal role that demands strategic vision, academic acumen, and strong leadership skills.


Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the department's overall strategy, fostering faculty and student growth, enhancing curriculum quality, and promoting innovative research activities. They must have a clear understanding of the life sciences industry landscape and its ever-changing trends.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Define and implement a compelling strategic vision for the Life Sciences department, aligned with the university's mission and goals.
  • Mentor, evaluate, and support faculty members' professional development, research, and teaching effectiveness.
  • Lead curriculum development, review, and enhancement at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, integrating modern teaching practices and industry standards.
  • Facilitate industry partnerships for internships, guest lectures, and experiential learning.
  • Encourage and support faculty and student participation in research projects, grant acquisition, and scholarly publications.
  • Manage departmental operations, accreditation processes, budgeting, and resource allocation effectively.

Qualifications and Skills:

The ideal candidate must possess:

  • A D or equivalent terminal degree in Life Sciences.
  • Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Life Sciences.
  • At least 15 years of relevant experience in Life Sciences, with at least 10 years in academic teaching and research.
  • Minimum 5 years of administrative or leadership experience within an academic setting.
  • Strong knowledge of current trends and challenges in Life Sciences education and industry.
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with faculty, students, and industry partners.
  • Strong organizational and strategic planning capabilities.

Preferred Qualities:

Candidates with experience in online and blended learning methodologies will be highly regarded.
