At Cactus Communications, we seek an accomplished Scientific Graphic Designer to join our team. This exciting role combines scientific expertise with creative design skills to produce accurate and visually engaging materials.

About the Role

This position is perfect for a talented individual who can effectively communicate complex research into visually appealing outputs.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Create visually striking graphical abstracts that capture the essence of scientific studies.
  • Analyze and comprehend scientific manuscripts to identify key visual elements and concepts.
  • Develop comprehensive storyboards outlining the visual narrative, ensuring alignment with scientific content and client objectives.
  • Design initial rough sketches to illustrate visual concepts, collaborating closely with researchers, writers, and clients to refine and finalize the visual representation.
  • Review peers' and freelancers' work to ensure it meets client expectations and is delivery-ready.

The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in STEM fields, excellent communication skills, and experience in creating engaging visual content.

Requirements:
  • A graduate or PhD degree in STEM fields (especially Biology/Biotechnology/Medicine/Chemistry/Physics/Engineering)
  • 3-5 years of experience in scientific graphic designing, communicating science and complex research into visually engaging output.
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Design Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop).
  • Familiarity with 3D designs in Blender is a plus.
  • Experience in scientific graphic designing, medical illustrations, journal cover designs, and graphical abstracts.
  • A deep understanding of the scientific publishing & science communication landscape
