Road Safety Strategist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Road Safety Expert to lead our state's road safety initiatives. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating effective road safety strategies across the state.

• Key Responsibilities:
• Policy & Strategy Development:
  • Develop a comprehensive State Road Safety Policy and Action Plan, ensuring alignment with national road safety frameworks and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • Advise on best practices for safe road infrastructure, signage, and traffic management, leveraging data-driven approaches to inform decision-making.
• Infrastructure Planning & Design:
  • Evaluate design and safety aspects of new and existing road projects, identifying areas for improvement and recommending countermeasures.
  • Conduct regular road safety audits at various stages of project development, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
• Data Analysis & Research:
  • Analyze crash data, road user patterns, and conduct causal analysis to identify trends and risk factors, informing targeted interventions.
  • Maintain and update a road safety database, providing actionable insights for policymakers and stakeholders.
• Capacity Building & Training:
  • Design and deliver training programs for engineers, enforcement officers, planners, drivers, and community groups, promoting a culture of road safety awareness.
  • Develop knowledge-sharing resources and toolkits on road safety best practices, facilitating collaboration and knowledge transfer.
• Community Engagement:
  • Lead the development and implementation of public awareness campaigns, promoting safe mobility practices and advocating for road safety improvements.
  • Collaborate with local NGOs, schools, and community leaders to foster partnerships and drive collective action towards road safety goals.
• Enforcement & Monitoring:
  • Work closely with police and traffic enforcement teams to enhance compliance with road safety laws and regulations.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of enforcement and engineering interventions, refining strategies as needed.
• Interdepartmental Coordination:
  • Facilitate interagency collaboration among government departments to ensure integrated safety improvements and policy coherence.
  • Represent the state at national road safety forums and stakeholder consultations, advancing our state's road safety agenda.
• Technology & Innovation:
  • Promote the adoption of intelligent traffic management systems, GIS-based accident mapping, and emerging safety technologies to enhance road safety outcomes.
  • Advise state authorities on procurement and deployment of digital enforcement and monitoring tools, ensuring strategic investment in road safety solutions.
