The Director of Career Planning and Development will lead the university's career services initiatives, focusing on career guidance, professional development, and placement support for students and alumni. This position involves strategizing and implementing programs to enhance employability, industry engagement, and entrepreneurial ventures while maintaining strong relationships with corporate partners, alumni, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement a comprehensive career services strategy aligned with the university's vision, incorporating analysis of employment trends and program design to improve student employability.
2. Foster a culture of career readiness and lifelong learning among students and alumni, promoting the value of career development and exploration.
3. Establish career counselling services, including resume reviews, mock interviews, and skill assessments, to support students in achieving their career goals.
4. Design and deliver workshops, seminars, and training sessions focused on soft skills, technical skills, and personal branding, in collaboration with academic departments and industry partners.
5. Supervise the Career Planning and Development team, providing guidance and leadership to ensure the successful implementation of career services programs.
Required Skills and Qualifications
1. A master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., education, business, or human resources) and/or significant experience in career development, preferably in higher education.
2. Proven leadership and management skills, including budgeting and team supervision.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders, including corporate partners, alumni, and students.
4. Familiarity with career assessment tools and techniques, as well as industry trends and best practices in career development and placement support.
