Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Software Development Team Lead to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of talented software engineers in the development and delivery of high-quality software solutions.


Your primary focus will be on driving technical excellence, fostering a collaborative team environment, and ensuring the successful execution of projects. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify solutions and drive architectural decisions.


Responsibilities:
  • People Management:
    • Lead, mentor, hire and coach a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
    • Set clear goals and objectives for the team and individuals and provide regular feedback and performance evaluations.
    • Develop and implement strategies to attract, retain, and develop top engineering talent.
    • Manage resource allocation, capacity planning, and workload distribution to optimize team productivity and efficiency.
    • Collaborate with other engineering managers and department heads to prioritize initiatives and allocate resources effectively.
  • Technical Leadership:
    • Provide technical guidance and expertise to the team, ensuring alignment with best practices, architectural standards, and industry trends.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify solutions and drive architectural decisions.
    • Total understanding of the product and contribute to the product roadmap.
  • Other Responsibilities:
    • Work closely with product managers, stakeholders, and customers to understand requirements, prioritize tasks, and mitigate risks.
    • Resolve day-to-day project problems or team conflicts, strategize and manage project timelines.

Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you will need:


  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software engineering.
  • Proven track record of at least 2 years in a technical management role, leading high-performing engineering teams.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members.
  • Good hands-on understanding of Event-Driven Architecture (Kafka, RMQ), Elasticsearch, SQL, NoSQL, K8s, Kafka streams, etc.
  • Good to have: solid understanding of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of container-based development & deployment (e.g. Docker, rkt) is a plus.
