Senior PostgreSQL Support Role

We're seeking a skilled PostgreSQL Support Engineer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives on solving complex database performance puzzles and enjoys mentoring junior engineers.

About the Role:

  • As a Senior PostgreSQL Support Engineer, you'll own the toughest tickets, acting as the final escalation point for complex incidents involving performance degradation, data corruption investigations, and large-scale failovers.
  • You'll design and automate PostgreSQL deployments in Kubernetes, crafting Helm charts, CRDs, and automation using Terraform or Ansible.
  • Tune and optimize databases by profiling slow queries, balancing workloads, and architecting capacity planning.
  • Become a high-availability guru by building and operating resilient clusters with Patroni, repmgr, streaming replication, synchronous replication, and DR strategies.
  • Architect end-to-end monitoring pipelines in Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager, VictoriaMetrics, and integrate with ELK/EFK stacks for logs and traces.
  • Implement security and compliance measures such as encryption at rest (TDE, LUKS), TLS in transit, role-based access control, and audit logging to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor and evangelize best practices among junior engineers, including schema design, indexing strategies, partitioning, and PL/pgSQL development patterns.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge bases, run 'lunch & learn' sessions, author runbooks, and refine support playbooks.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience administering PostgreSQL in production at scale (v9.6–15+)
  • Deep expertise in Linux (RHEL/CentOS, Ubuntu) and shell scripting (Bash, Python)
  • Proven track record with Kubernetes and PostgreSQL Operators
  • Mastery of performance tuning: query plans, WAL tuning, connection pooling (PgBouncer, Pgpool-II)
  • Hands-on experience with Prometheus/Grafana monitoring stacks
  • Excellent problem-solving, written/spoken English, and customer-facing skills
