Key Role: Data Science Specialist

The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong background in data science and experience working with large datasets. They should be proficient in programming languages such as R, Python, and SQL.

This role involves working on various projects related to data analysis, machine learning, and data visualization. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Collecting, processing, and analyzing large datasets to identify trends and insights
  • Developing and implementing machine learning models to solve complex problems
  • Creating data visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders

The candidate should also have excellent communication and collaboration skills, as they will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver projects.

Responsibilities
  • Preparation Phase
    • Ensure system requirements are met for each product (OS, CPU, RAM, disk space)
    • Verify servers have access to necessary repositories and allow inbound/outbound network traffic
  • Installation of Core Tools
    • Install R, Python, and Quarto versions
    • Download and install Workbench package for OS
    • Configure Workbench through configuration files (rserver.conf and rsession.conf)
    • Start Workbench service and ensure it runs on startup
  • Installation of Additional Components
    • Download and install Connect package for OS
    • Edit connect.gcfg configuration file to set up server URL, authentication methods, email notifications, and storage options
    • Configure SSL certificates for secure HTTP connections
    • Start Posit Connect service and ensure it runs on startup
  • Package Management and Maintenance
    • Download and install Package Manager package for OS
    • Set up CRAN, Bioconductor, and custom package repositories in Package Manager configuration
    • Set up access controls, including user authentication and permissions
    • Start Posit Package Manager service and ensure it runs on startup
  • Ongoing Project Management
    • Regularly apply updates and patches to products and their dependencies
    • Monitor license usage and renew licenses as needed
    • Establish support plan through internal teams or via support services
