We are looking for an exceptional Senior Mobile Test Automation Engineer to join our team at The Nielsen Company. As a key member of our software development team, you will be responsible for designing and developing efficient test automation infrastructure and frameworks to drive mobile testing of systems and logic.

Our ideal candidate is a strong and experienced senior mobile test automation developer and manual tester with a proven background in building and delivering quality releases and products. You should have a foundation in testing mobile applications software and developing automation solutions for Android and/or iOS.

The successful candidate will work in testing and debugging native applications for mobile devices, responsible for testing mobile applications and contributing to the team's existing automated testing framework. This includes enhancing the framework in terms of designing and developing automated test cases and converting existing manual test cases to automated test cases.

You will also lead a team of test engineers (automation and manual) and be able to assign tasks and manage their deliveries. A hybrid between a traditional software QA role and an automation engineer, this position emphasizes automation while performing manual testing on an as-needed basis only.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Test native mobile applications that make heavy use of networking code, both manually and via automation.
  • Understand requirements, design, and build manual and automated test scenarios to thoroughly test mobile apps' features and logic.
  • Adept various testing methodologies like exploratory, regression, acceptance, validation, boundary, and sanity testing.
  • Design and implement test scripts and automated UI tests.
  • Responsible for testing all functionalities and features of our mobile applications on handheld devices, ensuring the applications meet required standards and requirements.
  • Performance/Load testing: Coordinate with development teams for benchmarking of product before releasing, conduct suitable experiments for performance testing & running performance tests.
  • Work closely with mobile developers to recognize and report discovered problems, bottlenecks, deadlock, non-responsive states, and any other issue compromising the quality of the product.
  • Active involvement in all phases of testing life cycles such as Functional, Regression, End2End, Alpha, and Release Testing.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of manual testing experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of test automation development experience for mobile.
  • Familiarity with testing native mobile applications as well as with IDEs, testing and profiling tools.
  • Experience with testing tools such as Appium, ADB, Postman Rest API, Charles Proxy.
  • Experience with Python for automation and PyCharm.
  • Experience with Zephyr integration with JIRA.
  • Programming languages such as Java and/or Swift are a value add.
  • Creating test frameworks from ground up.
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD concepts.
  • Experience with GitLab-based CI/CD.
  • Knowledge of version control systems preferably Bitbucket or GitHub.
  • Good understanding of HTTP/S communication.
  • Understanding of Bluetooth and Location functions on a mobile phone.
  • Understanding of JSON formats and parsers.

About the Role:

This Senior Mobile Test Automation Engineer position is expected to bring industry best practices of source control, code review, automated testing (unit and regression) to the team. You will be responsible for implementing QA processes and best practices as part of providing quality products for the Business, with no quality escapes.

Salary: $120,000 per year
