Render Technician Lead

This position oversees the development and maintenance of rendering processes in a collaborative environment. The role is crucial in ensuring high-quality visual effects and lighting shots are efficiently rendered, utilizing compatible render engines.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain rendering performance, streamline processes, and troubleshoot technical challenges. This includes managing rendering workflows, creating tools, scripts, and automation to improve efficiency, and integrating new render engines and plugins into the production pipeline.

This position requires at least 8 years of experience and a strong understanding of rendering pipelines, shading, lighting, and AOV/pass setup. Proficiency in Python scripting, Autodesk Maya, Blender, Houdini, 3ds Max, and render engines like Arnold, V-Ray, Redshift, RenderMan, Cycles, Karma is necessary. Experience with cloud-based rendering solutions and USD-based workflows is desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Rendering Workflow Management: Compile issue shots based on render engine settings for performance and user support.
  • Pipeline & Troubleshooting Support: Create and support tools, scripts, and automation to improve rendering efficiency. Integrate new render engines and plugins into the production pipeline.
  • Quality Assurance & Innovation: Ensure renders meet studio's color space, AOV, and render pass requirements. Stay up-to-date with the latest rendering technologies and industry best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of rendering pipelines, shading, lighting, and AOV/pass setup. Proficiency in Python scripting.
  • Software Skills: Experience with Autodesk Maya, Blender, Houdini, 3ds Max, and render engines like Arnold, V-Ray, Redshift, RenderMan, Cycles, Karma.
