Linux Kernel Engineering Role

We are looking for an exceptional Lead Linux Kernel Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our kernel team, you will be responsible for setting the technical direction and leading the delivery of a team of junior and mid-career engineers on a key aspect of Ubuntu Linux.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in C programming language, expert understanding of *nix-based operating system kernel and distribution, and demonstrated expertise working with software packaging formats, particularly with direct Ubuntu/Debian/Snap experience being highly regarded.

Responsibilities:
  • Set Technical Direction: Lead the development of technical strategies and roadmaps for our kernel team, ensuring we stay at the forefront of Linux distributions.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of junior and mid-career engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure their growth and success.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other senior technical leadership on the Kernel Team to coordinate initiatives and ensure smooth delivery.
  • Communication: Develop and maintain effective communication channels with management, stakeholders, and team members to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
Requirements:
  • Strong Background: Proven experience working with Linux kernels, C programming language, and software packaging formats.
  • Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in kernel patching, debugging, device drivers, BSP's, and low-level system engineering.
  • Collaboration: Strong ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including management, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • RTOS Experience: Strong background in Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and real-time performance analysis.
