We are seeking a detail-oriented Same Day Surgery Coder to join our team.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately coding surgical procedures performed on the same day as the patient's admission. This involves reviewing and analyzing medical records, operative reports, and other documentation to ensure accurate coding of procedures and diagnoses.

Additionally, the Same Day Surgery Coder will assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for same day surgeries in accordance with coding guidelines and payer requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and surgical procedures, as well as proficiency in coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze medical records and operative reports to ensure accurate coding of procedures and diagnoses.
  • Assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for same day surgeries.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to clarify documentation when necessary.
  • Stay updated on changes in coding standards and regulations.
  • Provide education and support to clinical staff regarding proper documentation practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in health information management or related field preferred.
  • Certification as a CPC (Certified Professional Coder), CCS (Certified Coding Specialist), or similar credential is preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in medical coding, with specific experience in same day surgery coding preferred.
