Senior Device Engineer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Device Engineer to design, develop, and maintain device drivers for Windows operating systems. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of Windows Internals and have at least 3 years of experience in Windows Kernel driver development.

This role requires a strong understanding of Windows KMDF & UMDF programming, as well as expertise-level proficiency in C/C++ programming. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining device drivers using Kernel-Mode Driver Framework (KMDF) and User-Mode Driver Framework (UMDF).

The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Design and Develop Drivers: Design and develop Windows device drivers using Kernel-Mode Driver Framework (KMDF) and User-Mode Driver Framework (UMDF)
  • Write and Optimize Code: Write, debug, and optimize code in C and C++ for Windows environments
  • Perform HLK Tests: Perform HLK tests on Kernel mode / User mode drivers to ensure they meet Windows Hardware Compatibility Program standards
  • Collaborate with Architects: Collaborate with architects and other stakeholders to understand specifications and requirements
  • Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to driver functionality and performance

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need the following qualifications and skills:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from a reputable institution
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in Windows Driver Design & Development
  • Technical Skills:
    • Expert-level proficiency in C/C++ programming
    • Good understanding of Windows KMDF & UMDF programming
    • Strong understanding of Windows operating systems Internals
    • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
    • Proficiency in using Windows Hardware Lab Kit (HLK) and Virtual HLK (VHLK)
