Pastry Cook Position

This position is available in a professional kitchen environment.

  • The selected candidate will be responsible for preparing a variety of pastry and dessert menu items according to provided recipes and photos.
  • Assigned tasks include operating a station in the pastry galley, where duties may be changed occasionally to increase familiarity with different tasks.
  • Candidates will be placed in charge of some pastry and dessert production.
  • Shift assignments are dependent on operational needs, which may include day or night shifts.
  • Responsibilities also include setting up pastry displays on buffets as needed.
  • Assistance with transporting food items from main stores to the pastry galley is also required when assigned.
  • Candidates must maintain their working area and utensils in a clean and sanitized state at all times, adhering to United States Public Health rules and regulations.
  • In some cases, candidates may be assigned to early standby duty in the pastry galley for USPH purposes.
  • Candidates are expected to have knowledge of the ship's standard operations and provide assistance to guests and crew members with inquiries.
  • Attendance at meetings, training activities, courses, and other work-related events is mandatory.
  • Candidates may be assigned additional job-related duties by their supervisor or management.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years' experience as a Pastry Cook in an upscale hotel, resort, cruise ship, or convention banqueting service (shipboard experience preferred).
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, equipment requirements, and use.
  • Completion of high school or basic education equivalency requirement.
