Senior Backend Developer for Financial Platform

Key to this role is shaping the backend of a live, regulated financial platform spanning across the Middle East.

The Challenge

You'll be part of a lean team where the frontend is more developed than the backend and our goal is to bridge that gap rapidly.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and extend backend services utilizing TypeScript/Node.js.
  • Design transactional business logic for financial flows such as onboarding and withdrawals.
  • Maintain and design PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, and queries efficiently.
  • Integrate with third-party APIs securely via OAuth2 and JWT.
  • Enhance existing systems for better performance, reliability, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively through GitHub and CI/CD workflows.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience preferably in financial services.
  • Strong knowledge of TypeScript/Node.js, being productive from day one.
  • Practical skills in AWS Lambda and serverless patterns.
  • PostgreSQL expertise including schema design, performance tuning, and real-world queries.
  • Clear understanding of building secure and documented REST APIs.
  • Able to work independently and communicate complex ideas clearly.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working with regulated systems (KYC, audit logs, compliance).
  • Familiarity with AWS Cognito and broader infrastructure exposure.
  • Terraform/IaC knowledge.
  • Understanding of polyglot environments as Kotlin might be introduced in the future.
