Established special schools like Lady Andal House of Children are dedicated to providing education and vocational training for children and adults with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, and Down Syndrome.

The school offers pre-vocational and vocational training programs, including the NIOS curriculum, supported by a multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation professionals providing physiotherapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy.

We invite passionate individuals to join our dynamic team of special educators and educators to work with learners with multiple disabilities and to guide participants in the NIOS program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and Deliver Lessons: Design music lessons that accommodate varying learning styles and abilities.
  • Use Adaptive Techniques: Utilize assistive technologies, visual aids, instruments, and alternative communication methods to support student participation.
  • Encourage Expression and Communication: Promote music as a means of self-expression, communication, and emotional regulation.
  • Therapeutic Integration: Collaborate with occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other specialists to integrate therapeutic goals into musical activities.
  • Assessment and Reporting: Assess student progress using tailored benchmarks; maintain accurate records and contribute to IEPs (Individualised Education Programs).
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, structured, and encouraging classroom environment; manage behaviour sensitively in line with the school's positive behaviour support policies.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music or related field
  • 3 to 7 years of working with children in a mainstream school/ Special school
  • Teaching qualification or experience in special education
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and adaptive music education
  • Ability to play an instrument and facilitate group music singing
  • Must know Light songs and Bhajans in Tamil
  • Knowledge of Tamil language is mandatory
