Job Title: Cloud Database Architect

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Cloud Database Architect to lead our database team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Azure and Microsoft SQL Server, with expertise in designing, implementing, and maintaining high-availability databases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Database Design: Design, implement, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases within the Azure cloud environment.
  • High Availability: Ensure high availability, performance, and security of data for various applications.
  • Cloud Management: Provision, configure, and manage Azure SQL Databases, Managed Instances, and SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor database performance using Azure Monitor, SQL Insights, and Query Store, and identify and resolve bottlenecks by optimizing queries, indexes, and resource allocation.
  • Backup and Restore: Plan and execute robust backup and restore operations, validate recovery procedures, and ensure compliance with Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
  • Lifecycle Management: Support the lifecycle management of business critical applications, including installing patches, performing upgrades, managing releases, and administration tasks.
  • Cloud Platform Services: Experience with Azure cloud platform services, particularly Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and Azure Virtual Machines.
  • Microsoft SQL Server: Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Transact-SQL (T-SQL).

Requirements:

  • Experience: 8+ years of experience working on Azure MS-SQL database.
  • Leadership: Lead Admin experience with single point of contact for all Azure and on-prem MS-SQL Database and Cloud Admin activities.
  • Hands-on Experience: Hands-on experience with Managing Oracle OCI or Azure VM, Network and Security.
  • Database Security: Experience with database security principles and implementation.
  • Automation Tools: Familiarity with automation tools and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Azure CLI).
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
