Job Title: Database Systems Architect

Overview:

As a highly skilled Database Systems Architect, you will design and implement complex data systems supporting millions of customers using Cloud Native principles and best practices. This role requires expertise in database performance, scalability, and security to ensure high availability, secure, performant, and scalable database systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement complex database systems that meet business requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and deploy database infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain database performance monitoring tools and procedures.
  • Responsible for resident expert level knowledge of Aurora PostgreSQL database performance and scalability.
  • Expertise in query tuning, monitoring, and incident response.
  • Contribute to infrastructure changes with deep understanding of AWS services.
  • Manage complex data replication environment serving batch as well as real-time use cases.
  • Engage in on-call for production systems and act on incoming pagers/alerts.
  • Contribute to major system upgrades, deployment automation, monitoring enhancements, and production changes.
  • Engage in on-call for production systems, create operational playbooks, contribute to how-to articles, and gain domain knowledge to drive changes in the team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or related technical field.
  • 8+ years of hands-on development & operational experience with Postgres (AWS Aurora Postgres).
  • Experience with AWS Data Migration Service.
  • Extensive performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and tuning experience.
  • Experience with AWS services and hands-on knowledge of hosting on cloud.
  • Experience with any one of the programming languages for DevOps automation: Java/Python/Shell.
  • Knowledge of Docker & Kubernetes, Splunk, Wavefront is a plus.
