Linux Software Repository Professional

As a Linux Software Repository Maintainer, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of our software repository by performing update/upgrade/patch tasks.

This role is not for system administrators; instead, it requires a strong understanding of Linux, bash scripting, C, and Python programming languages.

You will work from home as part of a full-time contract, which includes signing a legal agreement with NDA and NCA clauses.

The ideal candidate should have 0-2 years of experience in maintaining software repositories and possess excellent technical skills in:

  • Proficient in Linux
  • Bash scripting
  • C and Python programming
  • Compiling and creating software from source code
  • Build system tools like autotools, meson, ninja, cmake, make, pkg-config, scons
  • Maintaining software dependencies
  • Patching - creating/managing software patches
  • Ability to understand and create Makefiles
  • Monitoring CVEs and staying current
  • Maintaining Changelogs and documentation
  • Providing bug fixes and debugging with gdb if needed
  • Reviewing changes
  • Knowledge of CVS and Git
  • Connecting with upstream developers for solutions

A good broadband internet connection with IPv6 facility is mandatory for remote logins and work. Knowledge of Slackware Linux is a huge plus, but candidates with knowledge of Redhat/Debian will also be considered.

Key non-technical skills required include fluency in English with good verbal and written skills, ability to work independently, and resolving assigned tasks within specified timeframes.
