Aurora is a distributed, fault-tolerant database service that leverages a self-healing storage system. As a Sr. Software Development Engineer on the Amazon Aurora Platform team, you will focus on building scalable control plane services and patterns to support the rapid growth of Aurora.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to work with a high-performance team that has built complex software systems for hundreds of thousands of users who rely on AWS database services. You will be responsible for designing and implementing services and intelligent tooling to allow Amazon Aurora to scale faster, emphasizing safety, deployment velocity, and operational effectiveness.
The ideal candidate should have 6+ years of professional software development experience, with expertise in developing high-quality code using languages such as Java, Python, Go, C++, or C#. You should also have experience in communicating with peers, technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements and describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
Beyond your technical skills, you should be able to mentor software engineers to help improve their skills, efficiency, and productivity. Additionally, you should have experience in improving processes and applying best practices for a whole project/team with solid expertise in software development life cycle.
We are looking for someone who can take a leading role in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers. If you have exposure to large-scale distributed storage and database systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Graph Databases), it would be a significant advantage.
