Backend Engineer Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of a live, regulated financial platform.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in backend engineering, with a strong focus on TypeScript/Node.js, AWS Lambda, and PostgreSQL. They will be responsible for building and extending backend services, writing transactional business logic, designing and maintaining schemas, integrating with third-party APIs, and improving existing systems for performance, reliability, and audit requirements.

This is a full-time contract role (initial 3 months, possible extension) focused on core features, transactions, and secure APIs all powering a product built for real customers and regulatory scrutiny.

About the Role:

  • Building Backend Services: The successful candidate will build and extend backend services using TypeScript/Node.js, focusing on financial workflows like KYC, servicing, and withdrawals.
  • Transaction Logic: They will write transactional business logic for financial flows, including onboarding and withdrawals.
  • Schemas and Queries: The engineer will design and maintain PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, and queries to ensure data integrity and performance.
  • API Integration: They will integrate with third-party APIs securely, using OAuth2 and JWT.
  • System Improvement: The candidate will improve existing systems for performance, reliability, and audit requirements.

About You:

  • Experience: 5+ years of backend engineering experience, ideally in financial services.
  • Skills: Strong TypeScript/Node.js skills, productive from day one; hands-on with AWS Lambda and serverless patterns; PostgreSQL experience, schema design, performance tuning, real-world queries.
  • Communication: Able to work independently and communicate clearly.
