About the Role

RingCentral is seeking a skilled Senior Java Developer to join our Engineering team. As a Java expert, you will work on high-complexity projects that set the standard for performance and reliability at massive scale.

Responsibilities

  1. Work with architects and other stakeholders on polishing requirements, suggest technical solutions, and provide feasible estimates
  2. Transfer requirements into implementation that is focused on efficiency and quality
  3. Be an owner of solutions implemented, actively support them from the proof of concept through production deployment
  4. Focus not only on development but on running software in production. Be proactive in defining monitoring/alerting specifications, enhancing observability and traceability of all production flows
  5. Provide mentorship to junior team members, become a center of competence on every part of the product you contribute to
  6. Participate in code reviews and other efforts to maximize quality of Engage products
  7. Be ready to provide technical assistance and guidance to service engineering teams that answer customer requests
  8. Work in a distributed team spanning across multiple time zones

Requirements

  1. 8+ years of experience in software development role building backend services using Java, Spring, REST API, Docker & K8s.
  2. Proven track record in delivery of event-driven, highly available, scalable, resilient enterprise grade commercial cloud services.
  3. Proficiency in developing Java applications. Advanced knowledge of Java Core, Collections, Multithreading & Java Memory Model, Garbage collection
  4. Deep understanding of micro services architecture paradigm, event driven system design, distributed systems, eventual consistency principles
  5. Experience developing REST services: REST manifesto, stateful/stateless services, load balancing strategies
  6. Strong RDBMS skills: writing advanced queries, designing table structure / indexes / triggers, query optimization / query plan analysis
  7. Hands on experience deploying applications using Kubernetes
  8. Experience working with Kafka or other messaging queues
